Motorising an industrial sectional door is not just adding an operator. It requires a balanced door, coherent tracks, compatible lift, suitable power supply, useful site controls and safety devices tested before commissioning.

Your motorisation specialist based in Paris’s 11th arrondissement

We assess motorisation projects for warehouses, loading bays, workshops and business premises in Paris and Île-de-France, whether for an existing manual door or a motor that needs replacing.

The technical visit checks whether the curtain and tracks can be retained, assesses the frequency of use, and inspects the power supply, controls and safety devices before pricing.

Motorisation is one of our industrial sectional door services, alongside installation, maintenance and emergency repair.

Motorisation audit on an industrial sectional door

Why motorise a sectional door?

Make the door easier to open and close, even with a heavy or large curtain.

Reduce effort and stoppages caused by manual handling, particularly on high-duty doors.

Save time during daily vehicle and goods movements.

Improve ease of use with a wall control, remote control or connected system.

Provide smoother, more consistent sectional door operation with enhanced safety devices.

Which motor for which sectional door?

On an industrial sectional door, the motor is a geared motor fitted directly to the door shaft. Solutions differ by power supply, control mode, torque (Nm) sized to the curtain weight and surface area, and the emergency system used during a power cut.

  • Single-phase power supply (230 V)

Suited to standard-size doors with moderate use: workshops, small warehouses and business premises.

  • Three-phase power supply (400 V)

Recommended for large doors, heavy curtains and intensive use: loading bays, logistics warehouses and production sites.

  • Hold-to-run control

The button must remain pressed throughout the movement. This is the basic control required by regulations on some sites where the operator must maintain constant visual control of the door.

  • Automatic impulse control

One impulse is enough: the door completes its full opening or closing cycle automatically, through to the travel limit.

  • Variable speed / frequency converter

Progressive starting and slowing for high-duty use and reduced mechanism wear. It meets the needs of doors subject to many daily cycles.

  • Emergency release

Operated by chain or crank, it allows the door to be moved manually during a power cut or motor failure.

  • Connected control (option)

Remote smartphone control, scheduled opening and closing, access history and multi-door supervision.

Our motorisation service

Frequently asked questions about motorisation

Can an existing industrial sectional door be motorised?
Yes, in most cases. A technical visit checks whether the existing curtain, tracks and shaft are compatible with motorisation or need adapting first.
When should 230 V or 400 V be chosen?
Single-phase 230 V suits standard-size doors with moderate use. Three-phase 400 V is recommended for large doors, heavy curtains and intensive use such as loading bays, where it provides more torque and better endurance.
How is the daily duty cycle taken into account?
The more often a door operates during the day, the more the motor and controls must be sized to withstand wear. On high-duty sites, we recommend three-phase power with variable speed or a frequency converter, which reduces jolts and extends mechanism life.
Do you work with AFCA, GFA, NICE and Somfy?
Yes. We install and work on these brands, as well as FAAC, Hörmann, Sommer and CAME.
Which controls can be added?
Hold-to-run control, automatic impulse control, connected smartphone control, or a keypad and badge reader to restrict access. These controls can be combined to suit your operational needs.
Which safety devices are required?
Photocells and a safety edge are the basic equipment for detecting an obstacle before contact. On some sites, a vehicle detector or infrared light curtain may complement the system, particularly on high-traffic doors.
Can the door still be operated during a power cut?
Yes. Each motorisation has an emergency release, operated by chain or crank, which allows the door to be opened or closed manually during a power cut or motor failure.
How much does motorisation cost and what warranty applies?
The price depends on the power supply, control mode, required torque and safety devices. A free, detailed quote is prepared after an on-site assessment. Installed parts and labour are covered according to the terms stated in the quote.
Is a maintenance contract needed after motorisation?
It is not mandatory, but is recommended for intensive-use doors. Regular checks of the springs, motor and safety devices reduce failure risk and extend the installation’s service life.
Can several motorised doors be supervised from one control point?
Yes. Connected control can operate and supervise several doors on the same site from one interface, with access and cycle history.
