Why choose Tilting garage door?
A closure designed around your needs
The on-site survey sets the choice between the up-and-over and non-protruding versions, the opening dimensions and available outdoor clearance, the spring balancing, the finish and, on the up-and-over version only, the motorisation before the quote.
What makes this model different
- Rigid one-piece galvanised-steel curtain
- Up-and-over or non-protruding retractable version
- Multi-spring safety balancing
- Somfy motorisation on the up-and-over version
- French fabrication, Paris-region workshop and Garantie 2 ans
This model is right for you if
Choose the tilting door for a robust and economical solution, when the garage has outdoor clearance (up-and-over) or opens onto the pavement (non-protruding retractable).
- Individual garages with outdoor clearance
- Controlled budgets
- Like-for-like replacement
- Dry, low-exposure garages
Consider another solution if
Compare the sectional door if you lack clearance or want insulation and comfortable motorisation, or the gate for the entrance.
Security designed for its use
The rigid one-piece curtain is a physical closure of the garage; a motorised up-and-over version adds movement-safety devices. The door is not presented as a certified burglar-resistant closure: locking and reinforcements are matched to the configuration, with performance confirmed on a per-project study.

Frequently asked questions about Tilting garage door
Tilting or sectional door — what is the difference for my garage?
The tilting door relies on a rigid one-piece curtain, robust and economical, suited when the garage has outdoor clearance. The sectional door opens vertically without protruding and insulates better, which suits garages without clearance or needs for thermal comfort.
Up-and-over or non-protruding — which if my garage opens onto the pavement?
The non-protruding retractable version does not project in front of the door: it suits a garage opening onto the pavement or public way. It stays on manual operation. The up-and-over version, which is motorisable, needs outdoor clearance in front of the door.
Can a tilting door be motorised?
Yes, but only on the up-and-over version with rails, using a Somfy (or compatible) chain-drive motorisation. The non-protruding retractable version cannot be motorised and stays manual.
Is the tilting door strong and safe in use?
The rigid one-piece curtain is hard to force, and the balancing uses a multi-spring safety design: if one spring breaks, the others hold the curtain. Anti-pinch joints limit pinching, and cells complete the safety with the motorisation.
Which finishes and colours are possible?
The curtain comes in vertical or horizontal ribbing, a cassette pattern or a wood effect, in any RAL colour, to match houses and facades.
What outdoor clearance is needed for an up-and-over version?
The up-and-over version tilts outward: it needs free clearance in front of the door. The survey measures this clearance and the headroom to confirm the right version.
Is it made to measure and installed in Île-de-France?
Yes. Every door is made to measure, with French fabrication and preparation in our Paris-region workshop, then installed and commissioned by the Shasama Fermetures teams across Île-de-France.
What determines the price, lead time and warranty?
The dimensions, the up-and-over or non-protruding version, the single or double skin, the finish, the motorisation and site access determine the quote and lead time. Installation is covered by Garantie 2 ans.
